The Book of James

James teaches good works.  We are not saved by good works
that we have done.
Read:
Romans 4:5
Ephesians 2:8, 9
Titus 3:5

However, we are saved for good works as the following verses
teach us:
Ephesians 2:10
Titus 3:8
I Peter 2:12, 15

Glorifying God by good works which He has for us to do is our    business here on earth.  Therefore we should know as much about good works as possible so that by them we can please and honor God, our Heavenly Father, and the Lord Jesus, our Savior.
Concerning these good works, the book of James teaches us:

When we are to do them. Chapter 1

Why we are to do them. Chapter 2

How we are to do them. Chapter 3 and 4

What they really are.  Chapter 5

I.  GOOD WORKS DURING TRIALS

No matter what our minds or hands are doing, we should be sure
that it is one of the good things that God has for us to do.
We should be careful to be doing only good all the time, even
during trials.

Day 2

II.  GOOD WORKS PROVE FAITH
JAMES 2

Though good works do not produce faith, they do prove it.  If you see a tree with apples on it, you know that it is an apple tree.
The apples prove to us that the life of an apple tree is in that
special tree.

If Jesus really lives in your heart-house, people will often see Him
looking out the window.  The things you do will be so much like
what He would do that others will know that His life is working in you.  See what the Bible says about this in:
I John 3:3; 5-10
Phil. 2:12, 13
John 15:4, 5
James 2

   A.  Faith shown by good deeds in church.  Verses 1-7
         1.  Show honor to poor as well as rich. 1-4
         2.  Show that you agree with God in His dealings with the
              poor and rich. 5-7

   B.  Faith shown by good deeds in our community. 8-20
         1.  God's law teaches us to help others. 8-13
         2.  Saving faith compels us to help others. 14-20

   C.  Faith shown by good deeds of two Bible characters.
         21-25

         1.  Abraham offered Isaac. 21-24
         2.  Rahab helped the spies. 25

Read James 2:14 several times, thoughtfully.

   Write out below Ephesians 2:8-10:
